November opened with the rockabilly sound of Big Sandy and His Fly-Rite Boys. Not only was the music great but Sandy was a total entertainer. Ashley Kingman’s guitar playing was spot on. For second set, the band was joined by Mark Roeder on steel guitar.

Fareed Haque, Tony Monaco and Greg Fundis. Terry O best described the performance on Facebook.

“Tony Monaco, Fareed Haque and Greg Fundis scorched and seduced the North Street Cabaret last night. I knew Monaco would never restrain his passionately soulful B3 but Haque is a master of so many styles; How would this organ trio come together? Magnificently! A murmuration of Monaco and Haque soaring over the impeccably complex and precise staccato that poured from drummer Greg Fundis. A night of music to be treasured!”

In the words of Madison Music Collective describing Sharel Cassity’s performance on November 23 and 24th.  “A great writer and performer with a fantastic band”.

As a frustrated and failed saxophonist, I am forever in search of one with chops. Sharel has got chops. Her version of Charlie Parker’s Donna Lee on Friday night blew me away. It was a rare 2 day booking for North Street. Sharel and band performed an acoustic set on Friday and Elektra on Saturday from her album Evolve. Hope to have her and band back soon
